Artwork 4 (Xinge)
Back View Wang Xinge Clay, silica paint 2010 This is a "wild thing" made from clay. I want my wild thing to look cute instead of scary or gory, thus I have its body shaped like a bear's, its ears like a lop-ear rabbit's. The two little horns on the head resembles the horns of small lambs. Its round body shape makes it look chubby like a lovable soft toy. Its tail is the essential part of this model and it took the longest time to craft. the white thick tail is made by swirling the clay into a shape that resembles the ice-cream in a cone. The pink lining on it adds a "sweet taste" to it. The wild thing is painted in dark brown colour, which is also the colour of dark chocolate. This gives the wild thing a sweet look, and it also makes it look like a tasty chocolate flavoured ice-cream. The paint applied was not well blended throughout the whole body of the model, such that the colours are not solid. Instead, the different intensity of the colours on the model gives it a soft and feathery look, making it look like a soft toy. The Clay model is made out of two pinch pots stick together by glue, because they were cut into two parts at the neck when it was first sent to burn in a whole piece. however, I am glad that it still turned out well and it is one whole piece together now. I want my imaginary "wild thing" to not have any special powers, but to live happily in the wild with other cute creatures. It would bounce its way through everything in life and live in a dream world full of happiness and no disasters, sadness or pain... |
